United Kingdom dadvocacy group Fathers 4 Justice invite you to dress like Batman between now and Father’s Day – June 16.

Every week between now and Father’s Day, Fathers 4 Justice will be giving away t-shirts to the best photos of people dressed like Batman and submitted to the F4J website. It’s part of their Dress 4 Justice program supporting fathers across the United Kingdom.

A two-month old baby was killed by what many people would think is the most unlikely of causes – his father’s kiss. The story from last year is just hitting the news now, and can’t be more heartbreaking.

The father, 28 year old Carl Maclaren, was described by his wife Marrie-Claire as “the perfect father.” But that doesn’t help his heavy heart after a cold sore in his mouth carrying the herpes simplex virus led to his five-week premature son, Kaiden, being hospitalized and dying last May.

Jolly Ol’ England’s Liverpool Children’s Centre just launched a new hairdressing course, but it’s not for young aspiring salon artists – it’s for fathers who want to learn how to do their kids’ hair.

Chris Cavanagh came up with the class, which started February 2, at both the Clubmoor and the Ellergreen Children’s Centres. Cavanagh has a friend whose wife passed away, and soon after, the friend needed to take his daughters to a neighbor’s house to get their hair styled.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the United Kingdom is seeing a boom in stay-at-home fathers, partially due to a recent recession in the country.

In fact, a record 10% of men now care for their children, according to the Office for National Statistics. Stay-at-home fathers are at their highest level since statistics for the segment started being collected in 1993.

A study by the National Literacy Trust found that one third of UK dads aren’t encouraging their children to read. This figure is up 30% from 2009, the last year that data was available on the topic.

The study also found that the number of mothers who are never seen reading has been relatively steady at one-in-six.

A recent letter from England’s Children’s Minister Edward Timpson to the country’s Members of Parliament suggested that divorced fathers should have the legal right to see their kids. A child’s welfare, Timpson argues, is dependent upon shared parenting.

Legal experts called Timpson’s letter unnecessary, saying that the current law already outlines an adequate framework of shared parenting that ensures a child’s welfare.
