Singapore Minister Says Dads Need to Take an Active Role

Singapore Education Minister Heng Swee Keat paid a visit to the Chongzheng Primary on the first day of school in 2012 to applaud involved fathers for their dedication to family.

“Chongzheng Primary is one of 46 schools to have the ‘Back to School with Dads’ programme,” ChannelNewsAsia writer Monica Kotwani reports, “one that encourages, among other bonding activities, fathers to take their children to school.”

Both Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson at the Chongzheng Primary are fathers, so programs like “Back to School With Dads” are common and encouraged.

Not sure if we need politicians to create awareness and how effective they can be of making dads take an active role. Maybe in that culture.

Just the smile of my daughter makes me want to be active in her life… No politician would be able to do that!

I think this particular dude was just there to say “thanks” and to lobby for re-election, if I read the original article correctly…which…sounds more like a politician!
